Our
Philosophy
The
philosophy by which we run The Oaks is underpinned by the following values:
- Privacy
We recognise that life in a communal setting and the need to accept help
with personal tasks are inherently intrusive and we therefore strive to
offer as much privacy as possible for our residents when they wish
- Dignity
We understand that as we get older, our inability to do the things which
we used to do in previous years can undermine our dignity, so we try to
preserve respect and individuality for our residents throughout their everyday
life at The Oaks
- Independence
We are aware that our residents have given up a good deal of their independence
in entering a group living situation. We regard it as important therefore,
to encourage our residents to act and think for themselves wherever possible
- Choice
We consider choice as a core element of providing a service to suit each
and every one of our residents. To this end, we aim to provide choice in
everyday life at The Oaks and to ensure our residents get the support to
help them make the choice which works for them.
- Rights
The fact that a resident has moved into a care home should not in any way
affect their basic human rights and as such we strive to ensure that such
rights are protected and that our residents are protected against all forms
of discrimination
- Safety
and Security We aim to provide an environment which is safe and secure,
therefore allowing our residents to feel comfortable in their surroundings
at The Oaks
- Fulfilment
At The Oaks, our philosophy is not just about care but about providing opportunities
for our residents to lead a fulfilled life.
